Golden Gate University

The MA Counseling Psychology degree program at Golden Gate University equips students to practice relationally informed psychotherapy and to pursue licensure as a MFT or LPCC in the state of California and in many other states. Our program believes that psychotherapy must acknowledge the complexity of the individual and the uniqueness of individual suffering, rather than the identification and resolution of discrete symptoms. Psychotherapy is envisioned as a complex process of individual growth and change, and the psychotherapeutic relationship is seen as a key element in successful treatment. We aim to train students to push back against models of care that focus on the discrete resolution of symptoms and neglect the role of human connection and understanding in the resolution of individual suffering.

New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis

The New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis is one of the few programs in the world to offer the Master of Arts in Psychoanalytic Studies.  Psychoanalysis offers the most comprehensive understanding of human motivation, its focus extending beyond what lies within the realm of conscious awareness to the powerful unconscious forces that drive people.  The course of study covers the theory of psychoanalysis, including psychological development in health and pathology, from Freud’s earliest discoveries through the latest developments in contemporary schools of thought.  Graduates are eligible for advanced placement in the licensure-qualifying psychoanalytic training program of our sister school, The Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, allowing accelerated completion of that program.
